Alexis holds a Honours Degree in History of Art at the University College London and recipient of a bursary from the Antique Dealers Association to attend the Janie Lightfoot Textile Conservation Studios in London where she spent four years of studies. She completed two training programs (six months tapestry weaving training) at the ‘Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins’ in Paris.

As artistic Director of the Ros Tapestry, Alexis Bernstorff has trained embroiderers and guided the interpretation of the cartoons since the inception of the project in 1998. Alexis has presented lectures on the Tapestry at the National Gallery, Dublin and Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny.

Alexis is a professional Textile Conservator and Restorer. Clients include the Office of Public Works in Ireland, The Castletown Foundation, the Alfred Beit Trust, the National Museum and many private owners.
